Rubric for Assessment and Evaluation of Student Performance
1. Level 5: Score of 90 - 100% - Grade A - Outstanding - Student's performance demonstrates a complete and comprehensive knowledge of the material conveyed in this Curriculum Web on the History of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. The student has effectively conveyed this on all three projects assigned here on this Curriculum Web, and on the examination concluding the two weeks of instruction utilizing this Curriculum Web. Moreover, the Level 5 Score of 90 - 100% also includes any extra credit that has been given, as well as class participation that has been both substantive and has contributed to the learning of the entire class as a whole in a positive and constructive fashion.
2. Level 4: Score of 80 - 89% - Grade B - Very Good - Student may demonstrate the characteristics of a level 5 performance with respect to this Curriculum Web, but is weaker in the overall knowledge of the material contained in this Curriculum Web and the student displays some difficulty in expressing this information, either written or orally.
3. Level 3: Score of 70 - 79% - Grade C - Fair - Student demonstrates a basic, workable knowledge of the material contained in this Curriculum Web on the History of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States, and the student has conveyed this knowledge credibly, both written and orally in a satisfactory manner.
4. I plan to implement the assessments after each activity has been completed. At the conclusion of the first activity, which is the composed conversation between two Civil Rights leaders from different generations, I will grade the activity and then assign each student's work a grade, and E-mail that grade along with how that grade was arrived at via the Rubric which is displayed on this Curriculum Web. I will also grade the next two activities in the same fashion, sending you your grade as quickly as possible so you know your standing as you progress through this Curriculum Web. Last, I will also grade the final assessment/exam in this same fashion, sending you your grade along with an explanation of how that grade was arrived at via the Rubric posted on the Curriculum Web.

How will I grade each student's performance?
I will grade each student's performance based on your ability to invoke your creativity in completing the three assigned activities posted on this Curriculum Web on the History of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States, as well as completing the final assessment/exam which will indeed be a "Open Curriculum Web" examination. I will take into account your mastery of the information, as well as how successfully you have utilized all of the tools this Curriculum Web has presented to you. I will also emphasize effort, as a student who presents his or her best effort, has participated in all this Curriculum Web has had to offer, asked questions and presented assigned activity work product which indeed represents your best effort will certainly earn the highest grade possible based on effort and dedication. Moreover, originality and creativity, not to mention thinking with your imagination when undertaking the assigned activities will also be taken into consideration. Ultimately, the student who demonstrates a mastery of the material presented on the History of the Civil Rights Movement in America on this Curriculum Web, combined with a keen sense of imagination, creativity and originality will wind up easily earning the highest grade possible.
