For your first project, I am asking you to compose an imaginary conversation between two Civil Rights leaders of your own choosing, with the only stipulation that these leaders be from different generations and could not
have possibly met in real life. For example, one idea might be a conversation between Frederick Douglass and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; What would these two giants of the Civil Rights movement in America discuss? What advice might Douglass have given to Dr. King? Another idea would be a conversation between Rosa Parks and Harriet Tubman. How would they view their roles as women in the Civil Rights movement? How would a possible conversation between President Obama and Malcolm X turn out? Between Jackie Robinson and Dr. W.E.B. DuBois? I ask that you compose these brief dialogues and then submit them on the Curriculum Web, and then come into class and volunteer to read them to your classmates and then we can discuss them in class.
